VERSATILE DRUMMER
There’s no other experience like playing the drums. Whether you’re just getting started, preparing for drum exams, or already in a band, Central Music Institute is the place to be to develop as a drummer. You’ll be learning from our highly experienced teachers with decades of combined experience and you’ll have a great time doing it. We’re not the kind of place to get down your throat if you haven’t had time to practice or criticise you for making a mistake. You’ll get nothing but support from everyone at the school.
Students can expect to receive a comprehensive musical education, and will have the option to work towards graded music exams with ABRSM, Trinity College London (TCL UK), LCME, MTB Exams or Rockschool London (RSL Awards).
A BAND IS AS SOLID
AS ITS DRUMMER IS
At Central Music Institute approach to drum tuitions where the focus is to get the rhythm in your hands and feet before your mind starts to think about it. We believe in the philosophy that the music you want to play dictates the type of technical work you’ll need to do, although there are some fundamental topics that everyone has to learn and practise, regardless of their musical preferences. Not only are our teachers outstanding tutors, they also know from first hand experience what it is like to be on stage and perform which is something they can pass on to you as a student. Be it festivals, TV appearances or tours with various artists – they have done it all.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
-
Students are encouraged to purchase their own drums, especially as they reach higher skill levels. Central Music Institute does let kids borrow drums for rehearsal, but for best results our drum teachers recommend students to have a drum set at home for daily practice, and a practice kit is a good, quiet option.
-
With steady practice, our drum lessons for kids can have your child playing with basic proficiency in as little as 6 months. Some students reach the level of advanced drummers in as few as 3-5 years, but it does vary.
Learning to play the drums doesn't stop once your child leaves the classroom. To see best results, our drum teachers recommend that students spend at least 30 minutes every day practicing the drums.
-
At Central Music Institute, we teach private drums lessons in-person or online in conjunction with weekly band rehearsals meant to build confidence and teamwork. While we do offer private drum instruction, we strongly encourage students to play in band rehearsals as a way of exploring group dynamics as they become more proficient on the drums.
-
All students are different, and some are ready to play before others. As a parent, you can look for signs that your child is ready for drum lessons. Check out our resource on the best age to learn to play drums for more information.
