The backbone, the groove, the rumble. From Disco to Rock, the bass guitar is an essential part of just about any band or musical ensemble. But great bass players also need to know how to create their own grooves from scratch. Central Music Institute presents a variety of creative and very impactful approaches for creating grooves in virtually any style. Our qualified teachers will guide you through a boisterous musical journey with our wide repertoire of rock and pop music. CMI program will familiarise you with a wide range of technique exercises, sight reading skills, improvisation and the art of solo as well as band performance. aimed at developing a strong command over the instrument.
LOCK N’ LOAD
The bass player in a 'conventional' rock band acts as a vital link between the drummer and the rest of the band. They lock in with (especially) the bass drum and help link the main beat, the main pulse, of the music from the 'dry' sound of the drum to the 'warmer' sound of the harmony and melody content of the music. They act a bit like glue in this sense, or to avoid mixing too many metaphors, like the concrete in a house foundation. Central Music Institute’s beginner, intermediate and advanced bass guitar lessons are tailored to build on the skills that students have developed through their previous beginner lessons and programs. These programs pair private guitar lessons with full-band group rehearsals and live performances, allowing student guitarists to showcase their skills by playing advanced songs from famous musicians. Our world-class bass instructors and teaching system are proven to help students play and perform at a higher level.

We understand that you may need some exposure to discover what your instrument of choice will be. So it's okay to start beginner lessons without buying a bass guitar, and Central Music Institute can loan you one. But shortly after your first few lessons, our bass guitar teachers will encourage you to purchase your own instrument for personal use. If a student forgets their instrument, Central Music Institute does let kids borrow electric bass guitars for rehearsal, but for best results students are encouraged to have an instrument at home to use for daily practice.
-
For most Central Music Institute bass guitar lessons for kids and adults, students will need a 4-string bass guitar and a practice amp to use at home.
-
With steady practice, playing in a group, and weekly private bass guitar lessons, kids and adults can play with a basic proficiency in as little as 6 months. Some students can reach the level of advanced bassists in as few as 3-5 years, but it does vary.
Our bass guitar lessons don't stop once your child leaves the classroom. To see the best results, our bass guitar teachers recommend that students spend at least 30 minutes every day practicing the bass guitar every day.
-
At Central Music Institute, we teach private bass guitar lessons in-person or online in conjunction with weekly band rehearsals meant to build confidence and teamwork. While we do offer private bass guitar instruction, we strongly encourage students to play in band rehearsals as a way of exploring group dynamics as they become more proficient on the bass guitar.
